For those of you who are new around here, I wanted to extend a huge welcome hug. I'm Sonya, and whether you got here by way of Soul Sisters Unscripted, The LIVE JOY LIFE, or some other avenue, I cannot tell you how incredibly blessed and honored I am to have you on this journey.

These LIVE JOY Letters are meant to encourage, empower, and inspire you to lean into the JOY God created you for.

What are you focusing on?

As I'm writing this, I'm sitting on my back patio looking out into the large pond in our backyard. Though about half of it is visible, only a few weeks ago, the whole thing was covered in green moss.

Most days in the summer, I would come to have some quiet, prayer time in nature, but rather than looking at the beauty that surrounded me (the distant pond, the cardinal in the tree, the wind blowing the leaves, or the blue sky dotted white with fluffy clouds), I would focus on the ugly green mess that covered my pond.

And you know what?

After minutes, what was meant to be a gift and a reminder that God had provided us with the exact lot we had prayed for, instead I was so annoyed by the mess of moss, I would find myself anxious and irritated.

Isn't it incredible how keeping our focus on one negative thing can blur all the blessings?

I don't bring this up to make anyone feel guilty. Instead, I hope it reminds you to look past the messy and try and see the blessings blurred in the background:

  • Look beyond the tempered child and see the blessing of love and snuggles
  • See past your irritating boss or coworker and see the blessing of a job
  • Nevermind the mess on the floor, see the blessing of a house to live in.

Now, I know this isn't easy. After all, I just told you about my own issues with this exact topic. But if I can spark one person to look beyond the mess and see the blessing - then I'm doing what God has called me to do.

Joy sits in seeing your blessings beyond your messes.

P.s. LIVE JOY LIFE Coaching has started!!

Any busy, working moms out there ever feel overwhelmed by all the chaos and busyness in life. Raise your hands high with me!!

But here's the thing.

It doesn't have to be that way!

I heard an incredible quote once (so sorry I don't know the original author) that said, "The enemy's number one attack on women is busy." Like what? of course it is!! How can you have time to hear God and act on those dreams He put on your heart in all the crazy busyness of life.

So I decided, as part of The LIVE JOY LIFE, I was going to start teaching busy moms about the power of anchoring your problems to God (who promised to carry them) and finding a plan for more JOY. I can't wait to teach these women about the power of the ACE Framework, Timeblocking, and Community!! Whomp there it is! (please excuse the 90's reference, I'm about to celebrate my 42 birthday!!)

As much as I would continuously offer group coaching, it is only offered a few times a year. I am still offering 1:1 coaching, but slots are extremely limited.

If you want to learn more, hit reply and we can chat!

Prayer for you

As always, a prayer for you before I go.

Lord Heavenly Father. I pray for Reader today. May you help her to see the blessings rather than the messes. I know it is difficult Lord, but bring us back into the JOY you intended. Help her to see what a blessing she is to you and to feel the love that you are constantly pouring in her direction.

In Jesus' name.
